About

The North Ridgeville Lions Club is a non-profit service organization that has been active in our community since its charter in 1961. Lions are striving to rid the world of preventable and reversible blindness. We also strive to help our community by support or service.

Membership is by invitation. Our club meets the first and third Tuesday of each month for a dinner meeting, a board meeting is held at a member’s home on the third Tuesday of the month. We generate our funds through various fund raising projects throughout the year. The North Ridgeville Lions welcome members who have a strong desire to help others and who wish to give something back to their community.

The International Association of Lions Clubs is a volunteer service organization. It is comprised of over 44,600 clubs worldwide with more than 1.35 members in 193 countries. Club members participate in local and international humanitarian projects emphasizing vision care, community welfare and the promotion of international understanding.

Imagine a World with Lions

I wonder if you could close your eyes and think of the impact on your fellow man if there were no service clubs. No non-government help for the poor, the blind, the infirmed.

Love and hope are sometimes hard to find. Our motto is “We Serve” to try to make the world a better place.

Our Lions Club is but a small part of the largest service organization in the world. We make contributions to help the needy, the sight or hearing impaired, and afflicted people locally, nationally as well as internationally. The world is your community too. Become involved! Talk to any Lion member to find out how you can contribute.

What do Lions do?

Lions are men and women who volunteer their time to humanitarian causes in the local and world communities. By conducting service projects and raising funds, Lions strive to help those in need, wherever need exists.

Founded in Chicago, Illinois, in 1917, by businessman Melvin Jones. Since its inception, Lions Clubs International has been dedicated to helping those less fortunate in their communities and around the world.

In 1925, Helen Keller challenged the members to be knights of the blind.

We Serve became the association's official motto in 1954.

Service to the blind and visually impaired has become one of the association’s most significant activities.

Lions participate in service activities emphasizing diabetes awareness, education and research; work with the physically and mentally impaired; environmental issues; community welfare; international understanding and youth.

The Lions are the world’s largest service club association with nearly 1.35 million men and women members in more than 44,600 clubs in 193 countries.
